Romantic relationships can give us strength and satisfaction, but they can also become a source of stress. Often, it is precisely the qualities that we initially appreciate in our partners that later present us with increasing challenges. In couple counseling, I help you better understand your conflicts, and to agree together on how you want to shape your relationship in the future.
Possible topics include communication problems, the desire for a different type of relationship (monogamous, open, polyamorous), a desire to have children, escalating or permanent disputes in everyday life, an affair, illness of a partner, problems in sexuality or the gender transition of a partner. If you would like joint support with these or other issues, couple therapy is the appropriate setting.
You’d like to discuss relationship issues, but your partner isn’t ready for couple therapy (yet)? That doesn’t mean you have to stay passive. Individual sessions can help you gain a deeper understanding of your situation and explore opportunities for change in the here and now. These sessions can also be a helpful preparation for future couple therapy.

As a trained historian I have long been involved in the history of gender and sexuality. I have been supporting couples as a systemic couple counselor and family therapist (SG) since 2023. I am fascinated by the diverse and creative solutions that couples find in response to challenges. What I value most about my work is making it easier for couples to find these solutions.
This also means that I may question cherished beliefs about you, your partner or your relationship – sometimes more seriously, sometimes with humor. We will always focus on your strengths, your resources and on what you have already achieved. As a transfem/non-binary therapist, a queer-friendly, discrimination-sensitive and appreciative attitude is important to me.
From 2021 to 2024, I successfully completed the advanced training in Systemic Couple and Family Therapy at the Berlin Institute for Family Therapy (BIF). The certification was awarded by the Systemic Society (SG), the leading professional association for systemic therapy in Germany.
Additionally, I have pursued further training in sex therapy, constellation work, and anti-discriminatory counseling. For me, continuous professional development, as well as regular inter-
and supervision, are a matter of course.
In 2005, I earned my PhD in History from the University of British Columbia. Both my therapeutic and historical work share a common foundation: a professional curiosity that seeks to uncover the roots of things, paired with the understanding that everything could always be different.
Beyond my clinical practice, I have published extensively on topics such as gender, sexuality, and social history. I have also taught and conducted research at various universities and institutions in the fields of social work, education, and history.
I offer counseling in both German and English. The sessions take place in Yorckstraße 26 in Kreuzberg (S+U Yorckstraße). The rooms are wheelchair accessible. Couple therapy sessions last 90 minutes each, and I charge 140-190 Euros for a session (based on self-assessment). Each individual session lasts 50 minutes and is priced at €90–110. If you are unable to attend a session, I will charge a cancellation fee. In settings with more than two persons (families, polyamorous relationships, friendship circles) I work together with a colleague. Feel free to contact me for more information.
